What in the world is web 2.0?
Have you heard about web 2.0? Do you understand it? What in the world is it anyway? Web 2.0 will revolutionize the Internet. It leads the world to where it wants to go. It allows connections and access to information that was not possible before. When the dotcom crash occurred in the late 90's, some people thought that was the end of the Internet as a business tool. However, in fact the opposite has happened. There are now more Internet users in China than in the USA. The total of Internet users in China represents only 17% of the population. It is easy to see where we are headed. The world is online and interactive. The number of people regularly using sites like My Space and Face Book is staggering. Youtube videos affect world events. Web 2.0 facilitates the collection and desemination of information from the collective intelligence of the users. It is like a global brain. The growth of the blogosphere is just the beginning. And it is not limited to PC's as such. There will be adaptions for many different devices that are portable and wireless. Web 2.0 is at the forefront of a new wave of technology. Humans are social, communicative beings. We are connected by our common needs and aspirations for a better world. Web 2.0 will bring people together like never before. |
